Stillbirthday Rainbow Bridge

As a doula, birth is often likened to a bridge.
I can companion a mother through labor to birth, and I can meet her on the other side after her baby is born, but the actual birth of her baby, in any trimester, is her journey.
I can’t cross the bridge for her, and I can’t undo the journey for her.  She is the mother whose body is laboring forward.
Have you heard a Waldorf birth story?  It is a spiritual story, that includes the baby crossing a rainbow bridge at birth.  It is a story that parents read to their children every birthday – and, quite appropriately, every stillbirthday as well.
This beautiful rainbow bridge is in Taiwan.  Wouldn’t you just love to go there and light a lantern for your baby from this bridge?
