HEARTS RELEASE

Selecting a name for your beloved baby is important.  This is true for families experiencing birth in any trimester.

Every year we release thousands of teeny, degradable paper hearts that are handscribed with our beloved babies’ names.  It is free to include your babies’ names.  It is free to attend. Our babies’ legacies are being spread throughout the world, one annual Hearts Release at a time.

What is your beloved baby’s name?

I will be so very honored to handwrite your babies’ names to be held along with my own baby’s name. -Heidi Faith, stillbirthday founder

You can learn about the history of the Hearts Release, follow along our facebook page for event details and you can share your beloved babies’ names to be included. Heidi Faith, the founder of stillbirthday, handwrites every beloved baby’s name shared here and on stillbirthday social media accounts (FB, IG, X).

New for 2025!

Celebrate our 14th annual Hearts Release with us!

In 2025, we are opening our Hearts Release in a whole new way. Rather than a single event, the opportunity is available for members of the stillbirthday healing community to organize their own local Hearts Release event, to be held either in August or October, depending on each organizer’s preference. October because this is infant and pregnancy loss awareness month, declared by Proclamation 5890 in 1988. August because this the founding of stillbirthday in 2011. Details of all event locations and the invitation for you to lead one if you’d like are all available on our facebook page

She was a genius of sadness, immersing herself in it, separating its numerous strands, appreciating its subtle nuances. She was a prism through which sadness could be divided into its infinite spectrum.

— Jonathan Safran Foer, Everything Is Illuminated

No one ever told me that grief felt so like fear.

— C.S. Lewis, A Grief Observed

I am strong.

— January, founder of Birth Without Fear

When someone you love dies, and you’re not expecting it, you don’t lose her all at once; you lose her in pieces over a long time—the way the mail stops coming, and her scent fades from the pillows and even from the clothes in her closet and drawers. Gradually, you accumulate the parts of her that are gone. Just when the day comes—when there’s a particular missing part that overwhelms you with the feeling that she’s gone, forever—there comes another day, and another specifically missing part.

— John Irving, A Prayer for Owen Meany

They say time heals all wounds, but that presumes the source of the grief is finite.

— Cassandra Clare, Clockwork Prince
